The Royal Club
This exclusive hotel within the large Occidental Grand resort offers superior accommodation and is situated at the far end, away from the naturist area. There is an exclusive pool and whirlpool and a lounge with spectacular sea views. The bar service includes premium label alcoholic drinks. The Royal Club’s Grand Tarajal restaurant offers both a buffet and a la carte menu. In addition to the facilities and restaurants of the Occidental Grande, guests at the Royal Club may also take twice weekly advantage of the Tindaya gourmet a la carte restaurant in an evening.
Location
On the south coast of Fuerteventura, the Occidental Grand is situated on the south coast on the clifftop overlooking the fine clothes-optional beach, Playa de Butihondo. It is 7km from Morro Jable, a picturesque seaside town great for strolling or purchasing souvenirs and local arts and crafts.
The Beach
The sandy beach is clothes optional. Beach towels are available free and changed on demand.
Naturism at Occidental Grand Fuerteventura
The Occidental Grand is a very large, mixed complex. Naturism in confined to an area with its own accommodation, pool, terraces, sunbathing lawn and spa facilities. Whilst the beach below the hotel is clothes-optional, guests do need to cover up on the way down. The naturist area affords magnificent sea views, even from the panoramic window of the sauna!
Food & Drink
The Occidental Grand operates on an all-inclusive basis. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the large main self service dining room, La Giralda. From May-October guests also have the option to reserve for one dinner in each of the themed restaurants which offer Oriental, Italian and Tex-Mex cuisine. (It is not planned for these thematic restaurants to be open during the winter season Nov-Apr), although guests may pay a supplement to upgrade to the Canarian restaurant which is due to open once a week during the winter. At lunchtime the El Lago Burger Cafe serves burgers and salads and also holds a twice weekly barbeque. All drinks (not premium brands) are included in all the restaurants and also at Bar Lobby, Plaza Bar and Brasserie (pool) bar from 11:00 - 23:00. The all-inclusive does not apply in the Beer Bar, the Ice-Cream Parlour or the Coffee Corner. Note: Gentlemen are requested to wear long trousers for dinner.
Facilities
The little shopping parade comprises shops selling international newspapers, souvenirs and beach articles, a mini-market, an amusements hall, ice cream parlour, coffee corner and a beer hall with a choice of draught beers. Internet access is available at reception. The Mandala Spa offers optional massages and herbal treatments. There is a charge for all the above.
Six of the swimming pools are ‘textile’; they have large sunbathing terraces and plenty of free sun beds. A deposit is required for pool towels. The resort is self-sufficient in excellent facilities, activities and entertainment; as yet there are not any amenities in the immediate vicinity outside as the hotel has been built in a newly developed area. Three children's clubs for children aged 4-7, 8-11 and 12-17 operate a daily programme of fun activities. Note: some facilities are restricted to guests of the Royal Club.
The facilities, activities and food and drink programme described are applicable for the summer season of 2008. There may be small variances to what is offered in the winter.
Activities
There are endless activities (all ‘textile’) grouped around the well-equipped Sports and Fitness Centre at Occidental Grand. These include tennis, paddle tennis, table tennis, volleyball, five-a-side football, basketball, water polo, aerobics, water aerobics, sauna, dancing lessons, archery, carbine and handgun shooting. Off-site there are optional opportunities for wind and kite surfing, sailing and motocross, snorkelling and diving (including tuition), fishing and mountain biking – all charges to be paid locally.
Entertainment
The Occidental Grand has its own 450-seater theatre/auditorium for a daily programme of shows, dance and competitions organised by a professional team from the Occidental Fun Club. The cinema screens daily movies. There is also a disco (extra charge).
