Dog Friendly Hotels in Brighton

The beautiful seaside town of Brighton is one of the most popular destinations in the UK for a getaway. With the ideal scenery for relaxing walks, what could be better than to bring your dog along? Fortunately, there are plenty of hotels in Brighton which allow guests to bring dogs. On this page, you can find information about some of the best dog-friendly hotels in Brighton. This includes tourist favourites, local businesses, and national chains that are welcoming for dogs.

The Oriental Brighton

Located at 9 Oriental Place, this Grade II-listed building is a Regency townhouse close to the seafront. It has 4 rooms with wooden floors which are suitable for dogs and a dog-friendly cocktail bar. However, dogs are not allowed in the dining room for breakfast. The Oriental allows any breed or size of dog to stay for free as long as they are quiet and well-behaved. Owners must bring their own dog bedding. You can request to bring more than one dog (within reason).

The Old Ship Hotel

Very close to the Pier and Pavilion, the Old Ship Hotel is a historic establishment with excellent views of the sea. This hotel allows guests to bring either two small dogs or one large dog per room. It costs £10 per night for each dog, but the hotel will provide a dog bed, bowl, and treats for them. You can leave your dog in your room while you dine at the hotel restaurant or bring your dog down to the hotel bar with you. There is limited availability for dog-friendly rooms.

New Steine Hotel

This 5-storey Georgian townhouse is a contemporary but elegant alternative choice for business and tourist travellers. You must pre-book a terraced room over the phone if you intend to bring a dog. This hotel allows only one small-to-medium-sized dog per room. You must not leave your dog unattended, but dogs aren’t allowed in the hotel dining room. The hotel provides Room Service for humans instead, and Bone Idol dog food for canines, at no extra charge.

Malmaison Brighton

A contemporary hotel on the Brighton Marina waterfront, the Malmaison is located in a great area for walking dogs. The hotel welcomes dogs in the guest’s room and in the hotel bar and terrace with their owner. Many of the hotel rooms have balconies, but you may not be able to book one of these rooms for safety reasons if you are bringing a dog. The Malmaison charges £10 per night for a dog to share their owner’s room. Dogs must be at least 1 year old.

Hotel du Vin Brighton

Barely 100 yards from the beach and promenade, the Hotel du Vin on Ship Street will allow guests to bring 2 pets of any size to stay with them. There is a fee of £10 per night which will apply per pet. There is a French bistro which also serves their menu in the hotel bar if you would prefer to bring your dog down with you. Dogs are also welcome in the hotel pub next door. The Hotel du Vin requests that owners do not leave dogs unattended without notifying reception.

The Ambassador Brighton

If you are looking to stay in a more affordable B&B with your pet, The Ambassador fits the bill. This city centre bed & breakfast hotel allows dogs to stay with their owners in the guest rooms for £12.50 per night. Dogs are welcome in the bar and lounge, in addition to the garden room. This is a private walled garden with a patio so you can take your dog outside for fresh air without leaving the hotel. When you do go out, there will be plenty to do within walking distance.

The Grand Brighton

As its name suggests, The Grand is a glamorous Victorian hotel with an iconic facade. But don’t let its opulence put you off – The Grand hotel does allow guests to bring their dogs! However, you must specify that you want to bring a pet at the time of booking, and pay a fee of £30 per night. Dogs are allowed in any of the rooms that you might choose to book, from classic rooms to the King Suite. Located on Kings Road, is it an 11-minute walk from the hotel to the pier.

The Hilton Brighton Metropole

The Brighton Metropole branch of the Hilton hotel chain allows both cats and dogs, as long as they do not weigh more than 75lb. The fee for bringing a pet to this hotel is £30 per night. Guests who bring a pet must also pay a £30 deposit in case of damage. It brings Victorian charm to the Brighton seafront as well as The Grand, also located on Kings Road. At the Hilton, dogs are allowed within the guest bedrooms only, and not in any of the various food and service outlets.

Holiday Inn Brighton Seafront

Another cheaper and cheerful chain hotel which allows dogs is the Brighton Seafront branch of the Holiday Inn. The Holiday Inn will allow dogs of any size or breed to stay for £15 per night per dog. You can bring more than one dog if you confirm it with the hotel in advance. Dogs are not allowed in the Holiday Inn dining room, but guests can dine with their dogs in their own rooms. Pets are allowed in any of the guest rooms and can be left alone if they’re well-behaved.

Are Travelodges dog-friendly?

Finally, one of the most popular cheap hotel chains in the UK is Travelodge. Most people might not be aware that Travelodge is actually pet-friendly, allowing guests to add pets as extras when they book a room. Travelodges will accept up to 2 dogs or cats for a fee of £20 each per stay. The Travelodge Brighton Seafront is one of the available locations, or there is the Travelodge Brighton for a more central location in the city. All 500 branches are dog-friendly.

Please be aware that guide dogs and assistance dogs are exempt from standard hotel pet policies. In all other cases, guests must adhere to hotel rules and take responsibility for their pet. Each hotel can ask guests to leave if their pets disturb other guests or cause damage to facilities. Guests must also pay for any damages which occur from their pet’s misbehaviour during their stay at the hotel. Always confirm with the hotel in advance before you bring a dog with you.
