Location

In the south of Fuerteventura in the quiet village of Esquinzo, the Marina Playa Hotel sits on the clifftop offering picturesque views over the clothes optional beach below. There are three restaurants, a supermarket and a few other apartment complexes in the vicinity with the busier resorts of Playa de Jandia and Morro Jable just a few minutes drive away (half hourly bus service). The climate in Fuerteventura offers year round sunshine – even in the winter, temperatures are in the 70’s and steady trade winds temper the heat and also make the island a paradise for windsurfers.

The Beach

The fabulous, sandy clothes-optional beach sits directly below the Marina Playa Hotel just a few minutes walk down the hotel’s access path. It’s a long beach (approx 20 miles) and its width varies with the tides. To the south, the Playa de Jandia is more developed attracting less naturism but to the north, the extensive Playa de Sotavento invites hours of nude walking on sand among romantic lagoons and by the turquoise sea. The area is serviced in several places by snack bars with sun loungers and umbrellas for hire.

Naturism at Marina Playa Hotel

Marina Playa Hotel is not a naturist hotel. Guests are expected to be clothed at all times in the hotel and its grounds. Guests wanting to enjoy a naturist pool are invited to use that of the Monte Marina apartments (under the same ownership as Marina Playa Hotel) just opposite. Alternatively, the clothes-optional beach is just a few minutes walk down the hotel’s access path.

Food & Drink

The attractive restaurant at the Marina Playa Hotel is perched directly above the beach offering fantastic views along the coast. The buffet at breakfast time is typically German with various cereals, yoghourts, breads, sausage, cheese and eggs together with juices, tea, coffee, chocolate etc. At dinnertime, guests on the half board plan take their evening meal from the buffet at 1830. Later, the restaurant is reserved for a la carte guests. The a la carte menu features a good choice of freshly prepared fine food and daily specials at very reasonable prices. During the day the pool bar opens for lunch serving a small selection of light meals, cakes and drinks. The coffee bar at the side of reception is a great place for a good cup of coffee and a great slab of fresh home-made cake.

Facilities

The Marina Playa Hotel has a fabulous clifftop pool with whirlpool, overlooking the clothes-optional beach. Part of the pool is enclosed which is a bonus on the rare occasion of poor weather. It’s an attractive spot with pleasant terraces, sunloungers and umbrellas. The pool bar opens for lunch, serving a variety of home-made light lunches as well as snacks and drinks. There is a sauna and fitness centre and massage is available (all payable). There is a part time reception, lift, coffee bar, internet corner, TV lounge and coin operated laundry. Across the road at the naturist Monte Marina apartments, the seawater pool and whirlpool is set in lush tropical gardens and surrounded by sun loungers and umbrellas.

Ecology

Protection of the environment is a priority on this beautiful island and six beaches on Fuerteventura have been awarded Blue Flags, indicating high seawater and beach quality. Sewage is treated efficiently, and the residual water is used in agriculture and to irrigate gardens etc. Domestic garbage is largely recycled. Fresh water is scarce; most tap water is desalinated. Solar energy is little used, as yet: however, wind farms cover 10% of all energy requirements.
