This small family-run hotel opened its doors to naturists for the first time in 2010. It offers its guests a really friendly service and simple accommodation surrounding a delightful pool and pool bar. Zakynthos (also known as Zante) is an island offering stunning scenery and a wealth of sightseeing opportunities.

Location

Hotel Panorama is situated in Porto Roma in the Vassilikos area on the south-eastern tip of the Ionian island of Zakynthos, about a half hour’s drive from the capital and the airport. Outside the main tourist area, the hotel sits among fields and olive groves in a corner of the island crisscrossed with quiet country lanes and a sprinkling of buildings.

The Beach

There are a number of beaches on Zakynthos where naturism may be enjoyed but none that are officially designated. The closest is at Porto Roma about a five minute walk away where naturists tend to use the area at the far end. The other beach close by is at Gerakas (3 minutes by car, 25 minutes walking). This beach has some turtle nesting areas on it which are protected and again, naturists use the ends of the beach.

Naturism at Hotel Panorama

Nudity is permitted around the clock within the hotel grounds. Guests are however asked to dress for dinner and it seems that most people choose to cover up for breakfast as well.

Food & Drink

Lodging at the Hotel Panorama is on a half board basis. There’s a simple buffet breakfast consisting of bread, butter, ham, cheese, tomatoes, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, squash, yoghourt, jam, nutella, honey, cake and tinned fruit. The dinner menu is available to peruse at breakfast time and guests are asked to choose from a selection of two main courses for their meal that evening. The dinner is modest – traditional greek fare with, for example, a simple salad to start and fruit or ice-cream for dessert. Vegetarians can be catered for. To accompany, wine by the karafe or the bottle is reasonably priced. During the day, drinks, snacks and light meals such as greek salad, cheese pies, stuffed peppers, dolmades, saganaki, chips, toasties and ice creams are available at the pool bar.

Local Amenities

There’s a bus stop outside the hotel offering a regular service to Zakynthos town. On the short walk to Porto Roma beach there are two nice tavernas and a small supermarket, with more tavernas also within walking distance in the other direction. Snorkelling, sailing, diving, water skiing, windsurfing, tennis, paragliding, bike/scooter rental and sea fishing are all available in the area.

Facilities

There’s an attractive main pool with pool bar and sunbathing terraces as well as a separate hot tub. Golden stonework, colourful geranium beds and attractive furniture make this a quite charming spot. The pool bar serves reasonably priced drinks and tasty snacks and light meals. Massage can be arranged with a visiting masseuse.

Activities

Zakynthos is known as the most important nesting ground for the endangered species of loggerhead sea turtle, the Caretta-Caretta and a national marine park has been created to protect and preserve these creatures and glass bottomed boat trips to view the turtles are a popular excursion. There are a wealth of stunning beauty spots on the island waiting to be explored.
