Zakynthos, Greek Islands

Sights & Excursions

We recommend hiring a car for a couple of days to get out and about to visit further afield on this beautiful island. Subject to numbers, a naturist boat trip and picnic, island tours including Limnionas and Shipwreck Bay and an evening trip to Zakynthos town are all planned from the hotel.

Naturist Boat Trip and Picnic

Subject to numbers, weather and sea conditions, a weekly naturist boat trip and picnic are planned, leaving directly from the hotel.

Shipwreck Bay

No visit to Zakynthos would be complete without a trip to this iconic spot, the most photographed place on the island. When we think of shipwrecks and smugglers, we think back centuries but this particular cigarette smugglers’ ship only ran ashore in 1983 and has almost become the face of Zakynthos. The rusty boat on the white sand lapped the bright turquoise sea and surrounded by impressive chalky cliffs really is a stunning sight.

Zakynthos Town

The town’s architecture is reminiscent of the Venetian and Byzantine eras. The town is vibrant and on the move until the early hours of the morning. The town is best enjoyed on foot. Explore its paved streets and squares and take your time to really explore - there are bakeries, cafes, local markets, sweet shops and boutiques. A walk along the sea front takes in scenes of fishermen, sailing boats and horse-drawn carriage tours.

Limnionas

On the island’s west coast, Limnionas is a beautiful unspoiled lagoon with crystal clear emerald green waters. There is no beach as such but plenty of flat rocks for sunbathing and a clifftop taverna with magnificent views which serves fresh fish.
