This first rate 4-star hotel is our best seller and has a loyal following of Peng clientele. With a high standard of accommodation, impeccable service and a range of excellent value offers, it’s easy to see why customers return year after year. The VIP Club system allows repeat customers to collect points for each stay which can be accumulated to an extent where they may be redeemed against a free stay in the hotel. Spacious and light, the complex has been decorated in warm, modern tones with colourful Andalucian tiling in evidence throughout.
Location
Located directly on the beach, the Hotel Vera Playa Club is situated on the Costa Almeria at the northern tip of Andalucia, Spain’s southern-most province. The Costa Almeria is on the same latitude as Tunis in North Africa and enjoys an exceptional climate with (usually) good weather from early spring through to late autumn. Five kilometres to the south is the small coastal town of Garrucha, whilst the town of Vera is 10km inland.
The Beach
Vera Playa Club has a good stretch of sandy beach which has been officially designated for naturists’ use and is nearly 1.6km long. Sunbeds are available on the beach (payable).
Naturism at Vera Playa
To save confusion, Vera Playa Club has a ‘dusk to dawn’ dress code. Clothing is required between sunset and sunrise. Nudity is permitted from your room to the pool or beach during daylight hours but guests are asked to dress for meals in the restaurant. The small parade of shops and bars in front of the hotel is not part of the naturist area.
Food & Drink
The air-conditioned restaurant is for hotel guests only and provides all meals on a self-service basis. There are a wide variety of dishes for breakfast and the lunch and dinner buffets offer an excellent selection of both hot and cold dishes including local specialities as well as salads, vegetables, meat and fish. Items such as kebabs, chops and steaks are cooked to order on the outdoor grill. Gentlemen are required to wear long trousers for dinner. The Beach Club (high season) offers a Mediterranean menu choice including fish and paella speciality dishes. Adjacent to the swimming pool is the Caribe Bar with its poolside terrace and the Al Andalus pub is accessed from the hotel lobby. The restaurant is non-smoking. There are smoking areas in front of the indoor pool, the pool bar terrace and the Pub Al Andalus.
Facilities
With its village character, the four wings of the hotel encircle the magnificent freshwater swimming pool which is surrounded by sunloungers and umbrellas. There is also a heated open air Jacuzzi as well as showers for rinsing off. In October and April/May, the small heated indoor pool is also open. Other facilities include a souvenir shop with international papers, a hairdresser, internet access (small charge) WiFi in public areas and a launderette with ironing equipment. Children’s facilities include a flume in the main pool and a playground with climbing frame, see-saw and swings. Once a week in the late afternoon/early evening, the nearby sister hotel, the Zimbali Playa holds a naturist spa session which is open to guests of Vera Playa.
Activities
Organised daytime activities for adults include gymnastics, table tennis, petanca (boules), darts, archery, air rifle shooting, volleyball and water polo. There is also garden chess, mini-golf, shuffle board and darts. Free activities include tennis (textile) and cycling (max two hours per day), subject to availability. For youngsters, there’s a mini-club programme (Jun 1 to Sept 15, open 10:00-14:00 & 16:00-20:00) featuring gymnastics, crossbow, painting, games, boules and water polo.
Entertainment
The poolside terrace is floodlit at night (until midnight) and doubles as a disco and stage for flamenco shows, dancing, games, and cabaret. Additionally, Ideal Couple, Mister Travesty and Miss Vera Playa Club competitions are popular.
