Location

With its spectacular scenery and magnificent beaches, the sleepy and tranquil island of Kefalonia with its rich historical heritage, dramatic mountain scenery and picturesque villages is the largest of the Ionian islands and is a haven for beach lovers. It enjoys a temperate climate with hot summers and mild and rainy winters accounting for its lush and fertile landscape. Vassaliki Naturist Club is situated just south of Kefalonia’s capital, Argostoli, in the small village of Klismata on the outskirts of Spartia village. Whilst only a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport, the club enjoys a quiet rural location, not under the flight path! The view at the front of the property is the imposing rise of the Ainos mountains whilst to the south there are sea views to the cape of Liakas. Car hire is recommended.

The Beaches

There are lots of beaches on Kefalonia where naturism may be enjoyed but none as yet that have been officially designated as a naturist area. The closest to Vassaliki Naturist Club is Paliolinos, a 2km, ten minute drive away (or 50 minute walk through the fruit fields). It is a sandy beach with large rock formations and a local taverna nearby for lunch and drinks. Other naturist friendly beaches include Kanali, 15 minutes away, Sissi, 20 minutes away and Myrtos (of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin fame) which is 40 minutes away.

Naturism at Vassaliki Naturist Club

Nudity is normal and expected within the whole of the complex, weather permitting.

Food & Drink

The pool bar is open every day and serves a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks and ice creams. Freshly prepared hot and cold snacks are also available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The proprietors of Vassaliki Naturist Club, Mark and Samantha organise a couple of great evenings each week. The weekly BBQ night offering grilled meats, fresh salads, dessert and drinks is arranged on-site whereas the popular Meze evening is held in a nearby taverna (within walking distance) and allows visitors to sample a selection of traditional Greek dishes washed down with local wine or beer.

Facilities

There is a good size swimming pool surrounded by pines, palm trees and lush lawn. Naturist dining is available at the seating area situated next to the pool. Mary, the masseuse visits regularly and has a range of modern techniques including holistic, hot stones and Indian head massage. An information book is provided in each room and gives details of local sights, services, naturist beaches and emergency information. Beach towels are available for hire. There is ample car parking space and car hire is recommended for this rural location.

Local Amenities

The Byzantio restaurant, café and pool is just a ten minute walk from Vassaliki Naturist Club. It’s a 15 minute walk (uphill) or a five minute drive to the nearest village Spartia which has two supermarkets and a traditional Greek taverna. There are also two tavernas in the other direction. There’s a large supermarket a bit further away (seven minute drive). The island’s capital Argostoli, only a ten minute drive away has a good selection of supermarkets and shops plus a large choice of restaurants and bars.
