The attractive Costa Natura holiday club is a far cry from the high rise architecture of some of the other complexes on the Costa del Sol. It was the first official naturist resort on the Spanish mainland and is situated in beautiful and spacious grounds on a hillside overlooking its own beach. There are over 200 apartments, built in typical Andalucian style with vibrant bougainvillea spilling down white walls. The lush, beautifully maintained gardens provide a colourful backdrop to clusters of apartments. Many people retire to the Costa del Sol for its fabulous climate and the growing number of permanent residents at Costa Natura contribute to a lively atmosphere.
Location
Costa Natura is situated on the outskirts of Estepona. It is 27 miles to Gibraltar and the impressive Rock and even the Rif Mountains of North Africa can be seen on a clear day. Malaga is 60 miles away.
The Beach
The beach front of Costa Natura extends over 650 yards. The depth of the beach changes considerably with the tide, and it shelves fairly steeply. There is fine, grey sand, covered by shingle in places, and a few rocks. The sea temperature fluctuates greatly with the changing currents. Sun umbrellas and loungers are available for hire. From lunchtime, the beach bar serves tapas, freshly pressed juices and all other drinks.
Naturism at Costa Natura
Costa Natura is a self-contained naturist village. There is a large resident population in addition to holidaymakers. Nudity is allowed and encouraged throughout the village and is compulsory in and around the pool and on the beach. You can if you wish take your clothes off on arrival and only put them back on for your return trip to the airport. However, some people do dress in the evening for dinner in the restaurant.
Food & Drink
Overlooking the pool is the restaurant with its large open air terrace where Menus of the Day are available for around €11. A great value pre-paid Meal Plan is also available for £60 per person per week (only available at time of booking) which allows the choice of lunch or dinner provided reservations are made the day beforehand.
Facilities
The focal point of the resort is the swimming pool – heated by solar power when necessary and possible. It is surrounded by pleasant sunbathing lawns, with a number of sun loungers available. Showers, sauna and a jacuzzi are nearby. The on-site mini-market stocks basic food and drink and orders can be placed for non-stock items for delivery the following day. It’s a 30-minute walk (or €6 taxi ride) to the large 24 hour supermarket in Estepona. There is also a beach bar, fitness room and internet facility available at reception for a small charge.
Activities
A volleyball court, table tennis, miniten and massage are available on site and a (textile) tennis court (‘textile’) is nearby. There are a large number of golf courses on the Costa del Sol. The nearest are at Estepona, El Paraiso and Sotogrande, each a 20 minute drive away.Yoga classes are held several times a week and volleyball games arranged daily. From Easter to October, daily petanca (boules) games are also held.
Entertainment
There is evening entertainment in the restaurant and bar (typically a Spanish trio, a folklore show, guitarist, games, dancing, etc).
